Detoxification - toxin removalThese nutritional ingredients all are required by the human liver to detoxify xenobiotics - toxins.
Uracil – This important nutrient is a rare base from RNA (RiboNucleic Acid which is related to the famous DNA) called Uracil, often abbreviated as U. RNA and uracil are present in only tiny amounts in the typical American diet. It is found in slightly higher concentrations in meat than in vegetables, grains or fruits – but not very much U is present in any food. UGT enzymes (Phase II enzymes) have an absolute requirement for uracil and cannot function without it. Uracil is a unique portion of the substrate which is required to transfer glucuronic acid to most toxins, instantly making toxins much less potent and much more water soluble. (Water solubility is required to get toxins out of your fatty tissues, liver and kidneys.) Uracil is uniquely supplied in the high quantity needed for effective detoxification in Radical Detox, and is not available in any other nutraceutical product and is not delivered by any other, so-called “cleanse” or detox product. Ribose – this is another rare nutrient, a special sugar, not provided in detox products or even most multivitamin pills. Like uracil, it is rare in the US diet and found in small amounts in meat; not very much ribose is available in vegetables, grains or fruits. UGT enzymes have an absolute requirement for ribose and cannot synthesize the proper substrate (UDP or UridineDiPhosphate) for the detox process. Ribose is also required for the synthesis of the fundamental biochemicals ATP and GTP. (Life cannot exists without ATP and GTP.) Even knowing this fact, most multivitamin pills do not provide any ribose, but we do. We provide plenty of ribose. Phosphate – is another nutrient often in short supply in the American diet. Phosphate is not only required for bone health but also as a portion of the fundamental biochemicals ATP and GTP. Your phase II detox enzymes have an absolute requirement for phosphate and cannot synthesize the proper substrate (UDP) for detox processes without phospahte. Only a few multivitamin pills provide phosphate, but we do. Radical Detox provides phosphate to help you synthesize UDP to clear toxins from your body. Glucose (dextrose) – This is one of the most common ingredients in the American diet. Glucose is absolutely required for UGT (Phase II) detox and is provided by almost every bite of our US diet. Chug any can of non-diet drink or almost any “sport drink” and you will get more than your required dose of glucose (or sucrose) into your bloodstream, in just a few minutes. The glucose delivered to your liver must be first oxidized to glucuronic acid and only then is bound with the uracil, ribose and phosphate (UDP). UDP is required in the critical Phase II detox step to add glucuronic acid (from glucose) to toxins – the important step for real detox. Since glucose is so common in our diets we provide just enough of this nutrient for your detox. No need to load you up with another 100 to 300 calories like other so-called detox or “cleanse” products. But if you really wish, go ahead and flavor Radical Detox with your favorite sports drink. Won't hurt. Sulfate – sulfate is required for a special group of Phase II enzymes called sulfotransferases. These enzymes along with sulfate, uracil, ribose and phosphate help detox your liver from small xenobiotics such as paracetamol. This is the active ingredient in the most commonly purchased, overindulged, over-the-counter medicines (NSAIDs) in the US. Sulfate is not commonly found in the US diet, but we supply plenty of sulfate in our Radical Detox. We try to save your liver from cirrhosis. |
Helping to Dull AnxietyThese nutritional ingredients are all useful to buffer your nervous system against the shock of toxin removal.
5-Hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP) - A recent study examined the effects of L-glutamine and L-5-hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP) given to humans during detox – the physical signs and mental symptoms of detoxed humans were recorded. Insomnia and withdrawal scores were significantly improved over time in those taking 5-HTP and L-glutamine. A reduction in tension-anxiety, depression-dejection, anger-hostility, fatigue-inertia and total mood disturbance and an increase in signs of vigor-activity were observed. In a study of nicotine cessation, 5-HTP relieved nicotine withdrawal symptoms. This study on mice also showed that 5-HTP mitigates somatic signs mainly through the natural conversion to seratonin (5-hydroxytryptomine, 5-HT) which is a natural, calming biochemical. L-Theanine – is an rare amino acid found in green tea (Camellia sinensis). Theanine has been shown in a medical journal to reduce the signs of withdrawal in O...e-addicted rhesus monkeys (a pretty good model for toxin-loaded humans). It has also been shown to inhibit caffeine's stimulatory effects and to reduce anxiety in humans. It displays a quick onset of counter-action that can last for several hours. For mice, L-theanine also reduces anxiety associated with maze and the marble burying assays, at doses that do not significantly affect motor behavior. L-theanine is provided in large amounts in both bottles of Radical Detox. Read our Reference section. L-Glutamine - The use of food supplement containing L-glutamine and L-5-hydroxytryptophan has been show to alleviate withdrawal symptoms. The related peptide glycyl-glutamine, has also been shown to inhibit the rewarding effects of nicotine and to attenuate withdrawal symptoms in nicotine dependent mammals. In addition, glycyl-glutamine has been shown to attenuate conditioned place preference, tolerance and withdrawal from m...e addiction without compromising m...e analgesia. Zinc - Chronic alcoholism has long been associated with hypercortisolemia and low serum zinc. Zinc deficiency may be one of the factors that contribute to the neurologic complications of alcoholism and may be partly responsible for alcoholic cerebral atrophy. It is hypothesized that low brain zinc, as observed in chronic alcoholics, enhances ethanol withdrawal seizure susceptibility. Zinc deficiency can also produce neuronal damage through increased free radical formation. Clinically, Zn replacement therapy may be a rational approach to the treatment of alcohol withdrawal seizures and alcohol-related brain dysfunction, though we do not claim here that Radical Detox should be used to treat alcohol withdrawal. Liberal amounts of this vital nutrient, zinc, are provided in both bottles of Radical Detox. |
